We teamed up with BamBam and five kiwi dads to bring you Superette Rad Dads. A new series to put the spotlight on exceptional dads and their adorable wee ones. Meet UFC Fighter, Kai Kara France. We chat to him about his fave thing about being a dad, what he’s learnt along the way and the best advice he would pass onto his kids.
Tell us a little about yourself? What keeps you busy?
I am a full-time UFC fighter, ranked #7 in the world in the flyweight weight division. Most days I’m in the gym but in my spare time I’m spending as much time as I can with my family.
Who are you a Dad to?
Cobi Karaitiana Kara-France who is 5 months old. He was born on Valentines Day this year.
What’s your favourite thing about being a Dad?
My favourite thing about being a dad is watching him grow, hitting new milestones everyday and just seeing his smile every time he looks at me.
Biggest lesson you’ve learnt being a dad?
I’ve learnt that you need to put yourself second. Everything is on the baby’s terms and you are fully responsible for a small human. Anything and everything else can wait.
Best piece of advice you would pass on to your kids?
Have a good relationship with failure because this allow you to learn and grow. My son will learn martial arts and all of these life lessons.
How would you describe your style?
Street/Casual. I’m really into sneaker culture.
