Meet the Rad Dads: Jay Reeve

Introducing Rad Dads: A collaboration between SUPERETTE x BAMBAM

To the Dads, Grandads, Uncles and Father Figures with so much to give. We’re here to celebrate you this Father’s Day.

We teamed up with BamBam and five kiwi dads to bring you Superette Rad Dads. A new series to put the spotlight on exceptional dads and their adorable wee ones. Kicking off with Jay Reeve, the first Rad Dad in the series, we chat to him about his fave thing about being a dad, what he’s learnt along the way and the best advice he would pass onto his kids.

Tell us a little about yourself… what keeps you busy?
Shambles, I am an absolute shambles, and I love it. I steal time from my family to give my radio show ‘The Rock Drive Show’ the respect it deserves, help others record oral histories in my Hargreaves Street Studios Podcast Suite and blow on the embers of potential that heat a multitude of irons that I have in the fire of life whilst quenching my thirst with my Pals, with a Pals.

Who are you a Dad to?
I am beyond proud to be the father of two souls the world needs, Oscar Michael Reeve and Hunter Stephen Reeve.

What’s your favourite thing about being a Dad?
The different lenses it allows you experience the world through. A child’s eyes seeing something for the first time, or tasting something for the first time can make it a new experience for you. The internal desire to be better, be a role model, to make mistakes and own them. The chance to live again.

Biggest lesson you’ve learnt being a dad?
I thought I knew a lot, when I knew a little, you can learn a lot if the resistance to learn is little.

Best piece of advice you would pass on to your kids?
The bravest thing you will ever learn is to love, and be loved in return. Be yourself everyone else is taken. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

How would you describe your style?
A colour blind chameleon.

What are your favourite brands at Superette?
Kiwi brands like Beach Brains and Just Another Fisherman hold a lot of weight. Ksubi, North Face and Carhartt have all your bases covered.

What’s on your Superette Wishlist?
Ksubi Mogul Coat
Just Another Fisherman Wool Haven Jacket
All Saints Adaire Suede Jacket
