A whirlwind trip filled with fashion and food, our buyers flew across the ditch for a speedy buying trip and found just enough time to check out the shows at MBFWA 18.
Hitting MBFWA 18 off with a bang, Camilla and Marc debuted their 15th Anniversary fashion show ‘Resort 19′. The set was ‘out of this world’ with 60 tonnes of red earth trucked in to evoke a barren Mars theme, parallel were references to their Australian heritage and the iconic earthy landmark, Airs Rock.
Signature tailoring, pastel tones and exaggerated silhouettes paraded through, with New Zealand born model Georgia Fowler closing the show. After a 5 year absence from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Camilla and Marc didn’t disappoint!
No Sydney trip is ever complete without a 7am breakfast run to The Grounds and a takeaway coffee! Followed up with back-to-back showings – 10 to be exact – from all of our favourites, with Sass & Bide, Nudie and Bassike getting us seriously excited.
Day 2 was packed with another full day viewings. Masculine tailoring, reworked prints and pops of colour were shown across the board with a subtle 80s vibe, reworked for a modern aesthetic. True to brand Bec and Bridge emphasised colour while Lover highlighted florals and Sass & Bide reworked their silhouettes.
With a 7pm call time, there was still more to come. Bold colours, frills and florals walked the runway of the Resort 19 Alice McCall show. If Alice wasn’t your go-to for cocktail occasions, the Resort 19 collection is sure to change your mind, ticking all the boxes with feminine silhouettes and dramatic metallics.
As always, it was a fleeting trip but we couldn’t be more excited for the season to come!
