We took 5 minutes to chat with Margie Woods, the Creative Director behind the amazing Viktoria + Woods…
1) How would you describe the aesthetic and inspiration of your brand?
V&W was built on personal values including luxury fabrication, and effortless styling. We are inspired by contemporary lifestyles and the sartorial juxtaposition of ‘laid back sophistication’.
2) What are your hobbies?
Yoga, photography and enjoying family time at our weekend house in Victoria’s Surfcoast. We have just purchased a new house, so I am looking forward to diving into the interior space and building interior moodboards.
3) Describe a typical day for you.
6am: start the day with exercise – either yoga or cross training.
9 am: Drop kids at school.
9.20am: Arrive at work and straight into back to back meetings with our sales & marketing team. A large chunk of each day is dedicated to design and ranging for upcoming seasons. If there are no after work commitments, or events, I try to leave work at approximately 7pm for dinner with family and some one on one time with my children.
4) How do you unwind after a busy day?
A glass of red, catch up with my kids, hearing about their day. I try to leave work behind me after hours. The weekends are particularly important to me, I switch off with low tide walks along the beach, dinner at the pub with friends, and maybe some gardening.
5) What is your favourite food?
Burgers! A friend of mine is obsessed with new burger Pop Ups around Melbourne and passed his obsession onto me. It’s dangerous.
6) What are your favourite pieces from the Viktoria + Woods Espernance SS15 collection?
The Pegasus Asymmetric dress. I love its freedom and its versatility. It’s still quite cold here in Melbourne, so I layer the Pegasus over my jeans and pair back with my Lacoste Carnaby sneakers and Oxford Blue Valentina Coat.
7) What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
I cry during movies all the time. I’ve even cry during performances on The Voice, more recently I cried at the movie Antman.
8) What is the last thing you Googled?
Suprette Viktoria and Woods
