We caught up with Jocelyn, our Design Manager from Head Office to find out her fashion dos & don’ts, what items make her list of summer essentials, what inspires her and more.
What is your role at Superette…
I’m the Design & Social Media Manager, so I have my fingers in lots of different pies – it keeps things really exciting. I love what I do.
What are your fashion dos and don’ts?
Honestly, coming from a big city (Toronto) I’ve seen my share of fashion do’s and don’ts. With fashion I think ‘to each their own’ – so let’s just go cliché and say: DO be confident in what you’re wearing and DON’T follow trends blindly, put your own spin on things.
My Style icons are…
I love Mary-Kate Olsen, Jessica Hart, Alexa Chung and if I were a boy I would say Pharrell Williams – I think he looks effortlessly cool at all times.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as eclectic, but simplistic. I’m fairly all over the place with what I like. Some days I feel like dressing a little Bohemian, some more preppy and some slightly rock and roll. To pinpoint a common thread let’s just say I am happiest in great fitting jeans (usually Sass & Bide), a tee (usually Bassike), chucks (usually studded) and a blazer. I am obsessed with blazers and can’t wait to get my hands on Lover’s Lunar V Contrast Blazer, it’s amazing.
I would have to say Marc Jacobs is my all-time favourite designer as I really admire his aesthetic, but more so his story and influence. I have a tendency to re-watch this amazing documentary ‘Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton’ more often than I probably should. Watch it on YouTube below…
I’m currently obsessed with….
Oh where to begin. At this very moment I am obsessed with geometric shapes, bright colours, prints and patterns – the bolder the better.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
What would you never be caught dead in?
There are lots of things I love about the 70s but let’s say bell-bottoms and flared pants will never come close to making my list.
If you could raid the wardrobe of anyone who would it be and why?
The Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine OR Olivia Palermo. Why? They both have THE MOST AMAZING WARDROBES full of an amazing classics and statement pieces (and probably the best collection of blazers I’ve ever seen). It’s ridiculous and not even fair.
What will you be living in this summer?

What is one trend you’ll be following this summer?
Neon. I am in love, there are so many amazing things out their I am going to have to restrain myself. I am also loving mints and pastels and can already see my wardrobe being taken over by these soft colours.
When looking for style inspiration, what do you refer to ( e.g specific culture, blog, magazine? )
For style inspiration I love looking at everything and everyone around me. Most of my influences come from looks I see on the street. Fashion is such a reflection of what is prominent in culture – so I guess I just keep my eyes open as I never know when someone or something will strike me as inspiring.
If you could only keep three items in your wardrobe right now what would they be? My Sass & Bide Draw The Line – Zippora Spray On jeans (most comfy jeans ever), Deadly Ponies Mr Leopard Bag (I love that it’s hand made in New Zealand, slightly novelty for me) and my Superette Studded Chucks because they’re badass (oh and if I can have a sneaky fourth I’d say my Michael Kors watch as it was a gift from my parents and I love it.)
