Got yourself a date night but nothing to wear? We’ve picked our top three date night locations with the looks to match.
The Art Exhibition
The Look: Requiring a little glamour for the girls and something a little more casual for the guys, get creative with a bold print and team it with neutrals for a versatile look. If your personal taste is a little more minimal, let the art work take centre stage and opt for something elegant with an all-black ensemble and gold accessories. Don’t forget you’ll be on your feet, so a slightly lower heel is a great option and for the guys, you can’t go wrong with a crisp leather sneaker.
The Location: If photography is your thing then head a long to Auckland Museum for their incredible Wildlife Exhibition curated by the Natural History Museum in London. Or if you prefer something a little more conceptual, head along to the Auckland Art Gallery to check out beautiful modern art pieces by Judy Darrah, exhibiting at the end of this year.
The Movie Night
The Look: Cuddled up on the couch or at the theatre, comfort is one thing you don’t want to compromise. Perfect for those wintery nights, layer up with skinny denim and a chunky knit and keep it neutral for a classic finish. For the guys, the same applies, think long sleeves for less layers and stick to a neutral colour pallet for a chilled out vibe.
The Location: If you like it laid back with a movie at home, you can’t go wrong with an old school classic like Clueless. Not quite up for a chick flick? then make it a luxury night out at the Lido to check out all the new releases. Looking for a little more culture? the New Zealand International Film festival runs from the 28th July – 13th August, so make sure you grab some tickets and check out the epic lineup.
The Dinner Date
The Look: With good food, wine and even better company, why not look your best for a romantic night out? You can never go wrong with heels and a LBD, complete with a petite bag and delicate jewellery, it’s totally timeless. Black adds a polished finish to any look, so don’t be afraid to keep it simple. For the guys, team a tailored shirt and trouser, incorporating darker tones for something a little more special.
The Location: With so epic many options on the NZ food scene, there’s no one place we’d pick! But with Wellington on a plate kicking off on the 11th of August and new Auckland openings every week, we’ve definitely got a long list lined up!
