With MBFW17 in full swing, we sent our buying team over to Sydney to track down the latest trends for Summer 17/18.
Regularly crossing the ditch to buy-up the best pieces, this time round we coincided with Sydney’s biggest fashion show of the year. A whirlwind 3-day event for our Superette team, we’ve got all the diary details that you won’t want to miss.
With an early morning flight to kick-off the Monday, we safely headed, coffee in hand to Bassike’s beautiful Paddington Boutique to check out their super fresh colours for the New Year, and a sneaky peak of their new jersey cuts!
Outerknown, Saturdays NYC and Lover were up next, gathering some epic pieces for the guys and having a girly moment in their gorgeous, decked-out showroom. Trooping onwards, Jac + Jack, Senso and Frame finished off the afternoon, all mesmerising with their chic lines and super fresh designs!
After a massive day, it was still far from over, a quick outfit change, and then on to Carriageworks for Sass and Bide’s Fiesta Barcelona Show. Returning to MBFW after 14 years, the elegant catwalk design flowed with beautifully draped layers, exotic silhouettes and gold accents in true Sass style. Celebrating the audacity and diversity of life, the collection captured a relaxed glamour that was hard to miss through pops of colour and signature textural elements. Definitely a highlight, we headed in for the night in preparation for an early start on day 2!
Fresh and front-of-mind, we walked through the doors of Sass & Bide for a 9am start, with an entourage of favourites following. P.E Nation, Mother, Camilla and Marc, Alice McCall and Viktoria Woods filled the day, and a stop-off at Dead Studios made it a wrap. With the night still young and our uber ready and waiting, we headed to David Jones to check out the latest trends for Bec and Bridge’s Resort 17/18 show.
Pulling out all the stops, the collection played with light and layering, showcasing intense hues of blue and fiery red. Sharp whites and textural blacks had their moment, adding a crisp modern edge to the overall vibe. Thriving off the shows ambience and entranced by Bec and Bridge perfection, it was time to turn in, ready for day three!
Booked on an afternoon flight back to NZ, we managed to squeeze in four more showings that we just couldn’t miss! KAT the label made their way to meet us, followed by a trip to Bondi for The People Vs., Alias Mae and Bec and Bridge.
Having landed back on home ground with a whole lot of lookbooks in tow; we’re excited for what’s to come! Keep your eyes out for party dresses, where its either one sleeve or none, and ruffled minis colour-blocked in bright bold hues! Stay tuned for up and coming arrivals and don’t miss out on the latest pieces from inspiring newbies, and of course our Superette favourites.
