Whether you celebrate it or not, we have put together some of the best date night spots for this Valentine’s Day to keep yourself winning the best partner award!
Now that summer has finally decided to show up, it’s time to step outside and make the most of the sunshine. The movies are without a doubt, a go-to date night event, and what better way to change things up with an outdoor cinema! With a selection of the latest and greatest films on air, you will be accompanied by food, drinks, music and Ben & Jerrys ice cream — the ultimate combo! Located in the middle of the Western Springs Quarry, the cinema will be playing (most appropriately) The Notebook on Valentine’s Day. So grab your picnic rug and a blanket to keep you and your lover warm, and have your heart ready to be broken by Ryan Gosling.
Once the clock reaches 5pm, escape the office and head straight down to the ferry terminal. Buy two tickets to Waiheke Island whether they’re return or not, we won’t be judging if you don’t make to work the next day. Start off the evening at Auckland’s newest vineyard Tantalus Estate. Located in Onetangi Valley, the restaurant is surrounded by beautiful vines that extend for miles. The food is a dining experience like no other, accompanied by award winning, five star wine, and you’ve won yourself girl/boyfriend of the year. Once you’re finished with your degustation, take a taxi to begin the Headland Sculpture on the Gulf. As the sunset sets, this will be a romantic stroll along the seaside to view 34 works from iconic artists which reflect the life on New Zealand shores.
Fish & Chips at Te Arai Point
An iconic kiwi classic, but there is still something yet to beat it! If you’re looking for some one on one time with your lover this Valentine’s Day, take the car and pack yourself up for a wee road trip to Te Arai Point Beach. A beautiful isolated spot located just south of Mangawhai. Stop off on your way in Wellsford and order from the LJ’s seafood for an epic fish & chip feed, make sure you don’t eat all the chips until you get there! Find your spot on the beach with a picnic rug and blankets and watch the sun go down — too good!
